Wildcat Mountain

written by Jake Stilson

I left the driest deserts of my mind

Seeking any old oasis I could find

intelligent design,

boy I’ve wrestled with mine

When it comes down to the hustle and grind

Smoke floats off to the heavens

Shades of my loved ones stand by

From the first chord I could hold

Back at 7 years old

To the last salty 6 string mournful cry

I sat back in my own skin

Let the visions all play out

It was the same as when I came

down from wildcat mountain

And felt the presence of god all around

I lit out for my highest plain

In the deepest recesses of my mind

But my attempts were in vain,

don’t you know it’s all the same

I’ll never again reach those heights
